Here's a textured trilobite I was asked to make for the Museum of Alternative History which will be part of the Reality season at the Kaneko. Honestly the presentation here is pretty disappointing. In order to upload it to sketchfabb I had nuke the resolution done to 1/10th of what it really is. There's only so much I can complain about a free 3D model hosting service though.... Still I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out. This and megalodon tooth (which I may upload later, it needs more clean up) were the tests for the new lighting system I have set up. It works marvelously. Also shout out to RockOnOldeTown in Bellevue whose fossils these are.
Ted and a portrait series
A good friend of mine asked to grab a quick portrait of him before he shaved off his beard. For giggles I shot it in the vein of a slow burn portrait series I've been working on. It came out delightfully. Here are some of the portraits from the series:
For a giggle we also shot a version on film. The camera was actually a gift from Ted, a Bronica ETRS with 75/2.8 lens. Shot on kodak E100VS.
Maker Faire
I will have a booth up at the Omaha Mini Maker Faire tomorrow. It will show case some of the methodology for how I make the mantis busts. I will has also have a few of the busts and some live mantises on display.
The fair is at 72nd and dodge in doSpace. It runs form 9-4pm this Saturday, April 14th.
